Our Fascination, Your Opportunity

An Inspiring group of women biking the Iditarod Trail Invitational

You are invited.... to Inspiration Point! What drives someone to want to ride their bike, or push their bike, through miles of ice, snow, wind, overflow, blizzards? Find out in this series of in-person and online events about women who have taken adventure to a level that is anything but safety and security.

Thursday, February 17 - Kim Riggs shared her experiences on the trail, as well as her training and preparation to ride the ITI 350 three times, and her latest adventure 1000-mile adventure to Nome in 2019. My takeaways were many. Here are a few on immediate recall: Butter in coffee is a thing! Eat every hour - set your timer.

Thursday, February 24, 4-6pm AKST - Fat Thursday: A round table discussion about training and racing the ITI -

Join us for a discussion and Q & A about endurance winter riding with a fat group of Alaskan (and one honorary Alaskan) women. Panelists have all raced the ITI, among other feats, and include Heather Best, Amy Breen, Kara Lackey, Kathi Merchant, Tracey Petervary, Missy Schwartz, Bobette Rowe, and Janice Tower. Three of the women have raced both the 350 and 1000 mile events, and two of the women are current record holders.  Three of the fat women will race the 350 mile event in 2022 and you can follow their pink dots live via Trackleaders and cheer them on beginning February 27. Find out who did what on February’s Fat Thursday at Alaska Cycle Chic. Join the Zoom link here

Saturday, February 26, 1-3pm - 'Into the North Wind' - Book signing and meet & greet with author, and adventure enthusiast Jill Homer. Get a copy of the book, and have it signed by Jill.

Sunday, February 27, 2pm - At the Knik Bar - Join us as we cheer on all of this year's racers as they start their journeys!
